SALINE, MI - On Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, Saline Indivisible hosted a “United We Stand!" rally, drawing in approximately 500 members of the community to the intersection of Michigan Avenue and South Ann Arbor Street from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Local residents gathered in a peaceful show of solidarity with working-class Americans. Participants rallied for key issues including public education over corporate profit, universal healthcare, shared economic justice, and the defense of Medicaid, reproductive rights, Social Security, and other essential programs.

In its event description, Saline Indivisible stated:

"The billionaires continue to wage a cruel war on working people ... We won't back down — we will never stop fighting for our families and the rights and freedoms that ensure access to opportunity and a better life for all Americans."

The event echoed nationwide sentiments, urging attendees to continue the activism sparked earlier in the year, including on May Day, and to drive forward momentum for systemic change.

“Our spirits were high leading into the ‘United We Stand’ protest, and the good vibes continued as we were joined by 500 democracy-loving neighbors,” stated Ben Schaaf of Saline Indivisible. “The crowd was really positive, and we had great support from folks traveling through town.”

As with all Saline Indivisible events, nonviolence was a foundational principle. Organizers emphasized peaceful participation and de-escalation.

This Labor Day action capped off a summer of frequent mobilizations in Saline-from “No Kings” in May to “Good Trouble Lives On" in July. These also included regular town meetings and training aimed at expanding resistance efforts. In a collaborative effort between Saline Indivisible, A2D2 Indivisible, and Downriver United 734 a banner was also flown over the Big House ahead of the kick-off between Michigan and New Mexico, which read "Grab 'em by the Epstein Files. Go Blue!"

The "United We Stand!" event served both as a continuation and culmination of the ongoing momentum seen across the country.
